The timing for the Tank Hill Highway 1 closure has been updated:
To ensure optimal construction conditions, the planned road closure of Highway 1 at Tank Hill has been revised to occur entirely on Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Emergency vehicles will continue to have access through the closure.
This is so Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) can re-align the highway level crossing and place their newly constructed rail bridge at Tank Hill into service.
The following will be maintained during the closure:
- emergency vehicle access,
- local highway traffic between Spences Bridge and Nicomen River Road area, and between Lytton and Gladwin Road area, and
- access to traditional fishing grounds between the Nicomen Bridge and the road closure eastern control point.
Checkpoints managed by Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure traffic control personnel will be in place at the following intersections:
- Hwy 1 and HWY 12 (Lytton)
- Hwy 1 and HWY 8 (Spences Bridge)
- Hwy 1 and Cornwall Road (Ashcroft)
CPKC will use their existing traffic control on site for travellers that make it through to road closure.
All other traffic will detour via Highway 12 and Highway 5, with use of DMS and Drive BC.
