Council approves Temporary Use Permit for temporary worker accommodation at 1120N Trans Canada Hwy, Lytton, BC

UPDATE

At their meeting on April 23, 2024, Council authorized staff to issue Temporary Use Permit No. 2024-01 (TUP2024-01) for a temporary housing complex to be inhabited by workers at 1120N Trans Canada Highway, subject to the following conditions:

  1. Inclusion of the following terms and conditions for the TUP:
  • remove all buildings, structures and vehicles when the TUP expires, 
  • reinstate and rehabilitate the site to a clean condition when TUP expires, 
  • provide buffering landscaping, screening and fencing where appropriate to minimize noise impacts to the accommodations, and/or 
  • ensure health and fire regulations are met due to proximity of industrial uses. 
    1. Receipt of a Letter of Assurance from the applicant before the TUP is issued.
    2. Immediate removal of the temporary building if an extension of the Temporary Use Permit is not requested. (This Temporary Use Permit is valid for three years with an opportunity to extend for an additional three years from the date of Council approval.)

    Village of Lytton Council has been asked to consider Temporary Use Permit TUP2024-01 for the property located at:

    1120N Trans Canada Hwy, Lytton, BC

    Legal address: That Part of the South West ¼ of Section 7, Township 15, Range 26, Kamloops Division Yale District, Lying East of Part Shown on Plan 287 Except Plans H856 and KAP78124

    The Temporary Use Permit is to allow operation of a Temporary Worker Accommodation Facility consisting of 90 to 120 private rooms with ensuite washrooms, shared laundry rooms, central cooking/dining and recreation facilities, administration, security, first aid, parking, and storage for a period of three (3) years.
