Tip 2: Maximize the distance between all buildings and structures
FireSmart Canada describes the area within 30 metres of your home and structures as the Home Ignition Zone. It is made up of three priority areas: The Immediate Zone (0 to 1.5 m), Intermediate Zone (1.5 to 10 m), and Extended Zone (10 to 30 m).
To maximize the distance between your house and other structures, move trailers, recreational vehicles, storage sheds, and other combustible structures into the Extended Zone, if possible.
