Knotweeds thrive in roadside ditches, low-lying areas, irrigation canals, and other water drainage systems. Knotweeds occur in the southwest coastal region, the Shuswap, Kitimat, Stikine, Skeena, Columbia, Okanagan, and Kootenay areas, as well as the Queen Charlotte Islands.
